NORSEWOOD LUTHERAN CHURCH.
■ (To The Editor.) Sir,— The Waipaiua Mail, of October 4th, contained an article headed "A Pastor in Trouble," and urged that it was the belief of somebody that the congregation of Norsewood would not pay the pastor his salary. This article was rea.d at a meeting of the congregation, and it was resolved that I, as secretary, should reply and deny this assertion in regard to the non-payment. This I did, but the W.M.s editor did not insert this reply, but said it was an impertinent letter from B. Gundersen. Therefore, I would respectfully ask you to give space in your valuable paper so that every man -can judge for himself whether the letter was impertinent and uncouth. The following is the letter which was written by me as a secretary ;— "In a meeting of the Lutheran Church congregation, held Monday, October Bth, a paragraph of the Waipawa Mail, headed "A Pastor in Trouble " was read, and it was resolved that I, as secretary of the congregation should write this letter and deny your assertion in regard to the payment of Rev. Mr Ries's salary ; and I wish to inform you that before you publish a case like this you should inquire more for the truth, as there is no shadow of truth in your statement. —I am, etc., B. Gundersen, Secretary. Norsewood, October Bth. 1888.
