ANOTHER MACHINE FOR MURDER.
A dynamite boat has just been launched for the United States navy.. It carries four pneumatic guns foi;the hurling of dynamite ■projectiles,' each with a range of at leasts mile. The training of the guns is accomplished by the steering of the vessel, and the loading is all done by steam. The guns are of 15 inch calibre, and the shells which, will .be fired with great accuracy, twice a minnte, will contain 600 pounds of explosive gelatine, equivalent to 825 pounds of t dynamite,' or 946 pounds of guncotton. It is claimed that this gun, when properly handled, will' be the most destructive engine of .war yet invented, for the heaviest armoured, vessels in the world will go all to pieces from the explosion of a shell much? smaller than ; those thrown by • the guns of the Yorktown.
