THE TIMES LIBEL CASE.
The libel suit brought by Mr O'Donnell against the London Times which is expected to come on shortly is likely to be one of the most interesting cases of the era. Mr Gladstone, Mr Parnell, Mr Sexton, Mr Balfour, Sir George Trevelyan, and Lord Spencer will be called as witnesses. According to a London correspondent the Times in its defence will say that it did not charge Mr O'Donnell with having a knowledge of the relations between the Irish-American Parnell chiefs at Home nor in America, but for Mr O'Donnell it will be . slaimed that the inference conveyed by the Times articles was that he was associated with assassins. It is thought the Times will avail itself of the trial to bring out some startling revelations, while counsel for O'Donnell will endeavor to confine the case.simply to the charge as it affects the plaintiff only. It will be remembered that Mr St. John Brennon, an Irish journalist, charged, in the Irish Black Book with being implicated in the crimos of the extreme wing, brought an action against the publishers and obtained a verdict, with heavy damages. The Irish party men in London believe that Mr O'Donnell will be equally successful against the Times,
