CARE OF TARPAULINS.
In stating that the exigencies of the international situation demand the utmost effort in the prompt and efficient transport of all classes of throughout New Zealand, the Railways Department stresses the importance of the most extreme care in the use and protection of railway tarpaulins. Canvas for the manufacture and repair of these tarpaulins is almost unprocurable today and, consequently, the fullest use must be made of every available cover in order that the Dominion's war effort, which relies on the steady employment of all railway transport facilities, may proceed with vigorous and unremitting regularity. The Department appeak* to all who handle covered truckloads of good* to exercise every possible care to avoid even the smallest damage to tarpaulins.
