Borough Council, recalled that the councH had offered a site to bri.ig the matter forward in a practical way, but. the question of site did not enter into the present request. The difficulties of transport to Auckland were a problem. He estimated the combined North Shore population at 2.1.000. Other f-peakers were Messrs. A. Hadfield and I. Mai l)onaId. representing the Birkenhead Borough Council, Mr. O. M. Galbraith. of the Takapuna Borough Council, Mr. K. C. Fowler, of the Northcote Borough Council, and Mr. H. .7. Hutchings, of the Devonport Borough Council. North Shore's Isolation. Mr. Fowler said the isolation was the strongest, point in favour of a North .Shore hospital. After midnight the North Shore was isolated, and delay was often fatal. The chairman, Mr. Allan J. Moody, said that the lniard would give full consideration to the matter. It was the duty of the board to look after the «ick and suffering of the community, and the board would not 'be failing in its duty to the North Shore. After the deputation withdrew, Mr. Moody said that, the 'board would have to approach the matter carefully. Mr. .T. Sayegh aaid that the board would have to first decide it* policy, hut he felt it. was not an opportune time to go on with the proposal. The matt i r was referred to the Finance Committee for consideration, and to report back to the board.
