PRISONER OF WAR.
AUCKLAND PILOT-OFFICER. Advice that Pilot-Officer lan C. Kirk, eldest son of the late Mr. J. Kirk, and Mrs. Kirk, of Kolmar Road, Papatoetoe, who was reported missing as the result of air operations on September 2, is now a prisoner of war, has been received by Mrs. Kirk. The International Red Cross reports that he is seriously wounded. Twenty-eix years of age, Pilot-Officer Kirk was educated at the Mount Albert Primary School and the Auckland Grammar School. He joined the Royal Air Force in June last year, being granted a short-service commission, and was attached to a bomber squadron. In the early months of the war he took part in several leaflet raids over Berlin.
