UNIVERSITY COUNCIL.
MR. DOUGLAS ROBB ELECTED. GRADUATES' REPRESENTATIVE. Nominated by a group of students who pointed out that scientific and medical interests needed more direct representation on the council, Mr. Douglas Robb, consulting surgeon, of Symonds Street, was elected by a margin of 72 votes to fill the vacancy on the council of the Auckland University College as representative of the Court of Convocation of the Auckland university district. The seat was made vacant by the death of the late president, Mr. H. J. D. Mahon. The only other candidate was Mr. R. M. Algie. In a poll of 117G votes Mr. Robb obtained GlO and Mr. Algie 538, 28 being informal. Mr. Robb was educated at the Mount Eden School and the Auckland Grammar School, where he won a University Junior Scholarship. He attended the Auckland University College and the Otago University, where he gained his M.B. degree in 1922. After five years' post-graduate work in England he graduated M.D. in 1928. He is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons and the Royal Australian College of Surgeons. He has practised in Auckland for the last ten years.
