AUCKLANDER'S AUTOGRAPHS. WAR-TIME COLLECTION. In a book which he carried in liis haversack during the whole of the war period Captain Henry Eastgate, of Pine Lodge, Weymouth, lias a most interesting collection of autographs. Captain Eastgate was attached to the 4th Battalion of the New Zealand Rifle Brigade, and whenever opportunity offered he secured, both in France and England, the signatures of world-famous people. Among the autographs, which give the positions held by the signatories at the time of signing, are those of: George, King of England; Mary, Queen of England; Alexandra, Queen of England; Edward, Prince of Wales (now King); Princess Victoria, of Great Britain and Ireland; D. Haig, Field-Mar-shal of England; D. Lloyd George, Prime .Minister of England; David Bcatty, Admiral of the Fleet; J. Foch, Marshal of France; Jilo. •J. Pershing, General of the United states Forces; A. de Clerement Jourmere, Chief of Staff to Foch; Randall Contrar, Bishop; Lord Godfrey Thomas, Private Secretary to King; Lord Cromer, Private Secretary to King; Horace Marshall, Lord Mayor of London; Lord Bledisloe, Governor-General of New Zealand; D. M. Piogen, General; H. Stratfield, Colonel; H. Davidson, Colonel, Staff of Queen Alexandra's Household; A. H. Russell, General of New Zealand Division; Jas. W. Lowther, Speaker British House of Commons; J. K. H. Bell, Senior Chaplain to Bishop of London; Colonel J. H. Boraston, Staff Officer to Marshal Haig. There are also 104 autograph signa-, tures of noted war and other officers, consisting of generals, colonels and private people of the British Empire, many of whom were killed in action or have since passed away.
