FREEZING EMPLOYEES.
C ONCIIiI ATION C ONFEREN CE. (My Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON", Tuesday. The Conciliation Council sat to-day to hear the Dominion dispute in the freezing industry. The commissioner, Mr. S. Ritchie, presided. 4 The employees ask that the ordinary hours shall not exceed 40, and that the ordinary daily hours from Monday to Friday shall not exceed eight, and oil Saturdays four. Overtime rates to apply in excess of these hours. They also seek payment at 3/C an hour for chain and piecework, and the rates for sheep to be £2 a hundred and for lambs £1 17/6. The employers' counter-claims are for Od an hour extra, if the men are required to work from 11 p.m. to 6.30 a.m., 2/0 an hour for chain, and as above for piecework. The rates for other classes of workers are set out in detail by both parties.
