GOOD SPORTING SIDE.
CHEERFUL IN ADVERSITY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH, this day. , Dogged by bad luck, the Australian Rugby team which is playing the final match of its tour against the Maoris today did not show its best, stated the manager, Mr. Gordon Shaw, in an interview. "AYe had an excellent side that would have delighted the New Zealand public. Except for sickness and injuries, every man enjoyed the tour and would have very happy reflections." Personally, added Mr. Shaw, lie was very proud of the party; their loyalty was most marked, and they were ever ready to do anything to please their hosts, tho New Zealand Union. Their cheerful grins when things went against them would never be forgotten. "I don't think anybody ever had a better band of men to manage. Their playing record might not be great, but I'm certain their sportsmanship is equal to that of any other Australian side to visit New Zealand. We are leaving with regret, but with the comforting knowledge that we have made many lifelong friends."
