KUMEU SHOW SOCIETY.

ANNUAL MEETING HELD. Mr. W. X. Coughlan, president of the Kumeu A. and H. Society, presided over a good attendance of members at the annual meeting, held in the Kumeu Hall. In his remarks Mr. Cough]an drew attention to tiie successful year the society had just completed, pointing out that records had been established in the number of entries, the attendance on show day and in the 60 new menvbers who liad been added to the society during the year. Mr. Coughlan specially thanked the secretary, Mr. W. B. Patterson, for his keen interest in the society, and also the committee who had worked together so successfully to bring about the marked improvement in the society's sound financial position. Mr. Coughlan made special mention of the loss the society had sustained in the recent death of Mr. K. P. Kinloch,, who had always been a keen member and had taken an active interest since its incorporation, having held the positions of president, vice-president and secretary at different times. The grounds of Mr. Kinloch had made an admirable site for the showgrounds and had always been generously loaned to the society. It -was decided to replace the Kinloch Cup for heavy-weight hunter, which last year had been won outright, with another cup, to be' called the Kinloch Memorial Clip. The members present stood as a mark of sympathy and respect to their late member. A vote of thanks was accorded the ladies' committee for the splendid assistance rendered the society during the year, especially in the ealeyard tearooms, which showed a net profit of £45 8/8. The election of officers resulted in the following being elccted for the ensuing year: —President, Mr. W. X. Coughlan; vice-presidents, Messrs. R. P. Dane, W. Mali lis and W. D. Leslie; secretary. Mr. W. B. Patterson; treasurer, Mr. W. J. Rodger; financial committee, Messrs. Coughlan, Patterson, Rodger, Dane and Malins; committee, Messrs. H. Lancaster, W. T. Nixon, F. Kinloch, T. Pook, R. Harris. P. Cane, E. Garry, R. Woolie, C. Glogloski. W. Smith, A. Lockwood, G. Farley, D. Hill, D. Hills, A. R. Sinton, A. Barnes, G. Field, A. E. Lambert, H. Hunter, W. Rouse and R. Thorpe. At the close of the show committee meeting, held previously to the annual meeting, the members retired to the supper room, where supper was served and a pleasant social hour spent, during which time presentations were made to Mr. H. C. Meikle, past president, and to Mr. Geo. Bright, a..committee member, who are both leaving the district. In handing Mr. Meikle a case of pipes, Mr. Coughlan made mention of th° splendid work Mr. Meikle had rendered the society and stated that he had been largely instrumental in placing the society in its present sound position. Mr. Mei'de suitably replied, stating that while he would not be resident in the district lie would still be willing to assist the show in every possible way. Mr. Coughlan presented Mr. Bright with a cigarette ci'-e and thanked him for the willing service lie had always rendered the Kumeu Show Society. Mr. Leslie proposed a vote of thanks to the president and the secretary.
