DRAMA FESTIVAL
FOUR NIGHTS THIS WEEK.
For the quickening in public interest in late years in the art of the theatre, Aucklanders have chiefly the work of the British Drama League to thank. The local area of the New Zealand branch is holding its forth annual community festival of drama in the Town Hall Concert Chamber this week, starting to-morrow evening and extending over four nights. Of considerably shorter duration than previous years, the 1936 festival was divided into two sections, the junior portion being staged separately a few weeks ago. Twelve societies will produce 15 plays this week, and Aliss Elizabeth Blake, who was founder of the Dominion branch and adjudicator at the initial Auckland festival, will adjudicate and comment upon this year's offerings.
