LEAGUE OF MOTHERS.

REMUERA. The third Remuera branch of the League or Mothers held its third meeting of the year in the North Memorial Baptist Church on Thursday afternoon. Mrs. P. D. Wright presided. Two" songs rendered by Mrs. McClatchie, aocompanied by Mrs. Alexander, were appreciated. Mrs. Hughes*Jones (the former president of the branch), who has been out of Auckland for several months, gave an account of the activities of the Lower Hutt branch. RAWENE. The Rawene branch of the League of Mothers was presided over by Mrs. Russell, and Mrs. "Raillery gave the thought for the month. Mrs. Gaulton's address, "Heredity and Environment," proved very interesting, and led to a discussion of the subject. Members, who | had studied their own children, gave their views and agreed that by keeping them happy and in a harmonious atmosphere, the best could be brought out and developed in any child. ■ MOUNT ALBERT. The monthly meeting of the Mount Albert branch was held on Thursday. A splendid attendance was presided over by Mrs. M. Turner. Mrs. W. Browne sang, and Mrs. G. N. Kean recited. The speaker for the afternoon was Mrs. Jean Boswell. Her subject was "Conditions of Women and Children in Russia." A vote of thanks was passed to the speakei, and appreciation was shown by acclamation. NEWTON EAST. The April meeting of the Newton East League of Mothers was presided over by tiie president, Mrs. Morrish. The Rev. Crainpton, of Sandringham, gave a helpful address on "Christ in the Everyday Things of Life." Mrs. Wood sang a solo, which was appreciated. WAIKARE. The speaker for this month was Mrs. F. Whyte, provincial .secretary, who gave an address on "Running the Home on a Co-operative Basis," to an interested attenaanco of members and friends. Mrs. W. B. Lloyd occupied the chair. Mrs. Auld, of Huntly, accompanied by Mrs. K. S. CaldweH, gave a number of much appreciated soi'gs. The thought for the month was given by Mrs. C. Marshall. Nine new members were enrolled. EPSOM. The Epsom branch of the League of Mothers held its monthly meeting last Thursday. Mrs. W. R. 'Tuck presided. The thought for the month was given by Mrs. B. C. Moo-lie, "The past is over and. done with, but the -future is all our own." Mr. D. M. Rae was the speaker for the afternoon, his subject being "World Affairs." Miss Naneye Hanna'. rendered several songs. j MOUNT ROSKILL. j Mrs. Bauer was the speaker at the monthly meeting of the Mount Roskill branch of the League of Mothers, presided over by Mrs. B. Bates. . Mrs. Bauer's subject was "Peace and j Future Welfare," and in speaking of t'nt j last war, she stt'd that it was impossible I to see what good came out of it. ; Mothers must stir themselves and think internationally and not breed sons for "cannon fodder." Mrs. Judd read a lettefrom the adopted branch at Waimauku.
