NORTHCOTE TELEPHONES.
SUBSCRIBERS NOT IN NEW DIRECTORY, BOROUGH COUNCIL'S ACTION. Now that a number of the residents of Nortlicoto and Birkenhead' have had automatic telephones installed and arc relying on. them to give an alarm in case of fire, the Mayor, Mr. A. E. Greenslade, thinks it right that they should know where to ring. Ho said, at a meeting of the Borough Council last night, that he had ascertained that the new half-yearly telephone directory, nowbeing prepared, would not contain the names of the most recent subscribers.
Mr. H. T. C. George moved that the district telegraph engineer bo asked to prepare and distribute a supplementary list of Nortlicoto and Birkenhead subscribers. The motion was carried, and it was also decided to forward a copy of tho later to the Postmaster-m|. .h of the letter to the Postmaster-General.
The council also decided to .advertise the new automatic number of the council chambers, 18-027, and of the driver of the fire engine, Mr. W. F. Ward, 18-022.
