SERVICE REJECTS.
MANY RECRUITS OFFERING. LONDON, February 15. The Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty, Lieutenant-Colonel C. Mi Headlam, in the House of Commons yesterday, gave the following remarkable ■ figures relating to last year's recruitments to the Navy and Rdyal Marines. The ; candidates totalled 53,915, but those accepted only numbered 5655. The number awaiting a decision was 394. The rejections were due to physical, medical or ieducationai unfitness. '
The Secretary of State for' Air,"- Sir Samuel Hoare, said the candidates for the Air Force last year totalled 8356, of whom only 2453 were accepted. : The rejections were due to educational unfitness* deformities of the feet, poor physique and diseases of the ears," heart, vision; and lungs. —(A. an 4 N.Z. and Sydney "Sun.")
