TOBACCO PRICES.
Re article in "Star" on Saturday, Febnarjr. v 11, on tobacco prices, I would like to plain' the true facts before the public. The assertion that certain shops only stock tobaccos is" a side line, thus enabling them to cut the prices, is absolute piffle. Nearly all tobacconists tn -.i doing the very thing they condemn,, most «f them running a barber's saloon, others storking fancy goods, fish hooks, lines and xods l : magazines, postcards, newspapers, also concession cards. As for compelling us to rain our prices, I never- heard of anything so ridiculous as trying to penalise a shopkeeper beame he sells goods cheaper 'and gives the pnHie better value for its money. I will leave this to the average working man—if he would .. sooner patronise my shop or go to the tobacconist and pay twopence more for his stick of tobacco. FAIR PLAY.
