TWO MOTORISTS KILLED

CAR CRASHES DOWN SLOPE THIRD OCrCUPAHT ESCAPES. VICTIMS HARD TO IDENTIFY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WANG AX LI, Wednesday. Two men were killed to-night on the Marangai Hill, five miles from Wanganui. when a motor car left the road and somersaulted down a steep slope. Their names arc:— David Hector McKenzie, single, aged 27 years, traveller for Levin and Company, at Wellington. William Earle, aged 30 years, storekeeper, of Khandallah, where he was in business with his brother. A third man, William Emery De Malmanche, grocer, of Levin, who joined the others at that town, had a remarkable escape from death, and wae taken to the Wanganui Hospital. His condition |is not serious j he received shouldei j injuries. I The driver of the car is thought to | have been Mr. McKenzie, who used the i car in his business. The faces of th« idead men were terribly mutilated and Mr. McKenzie was only identified bj j papers in his pocket.

When the car went over the jt' apparently rolled over the two, McKenzie and Earle, in 'its descent. Mr. Dc Malmanche was standing up when the ambulance arrived at the scene of the accident. Mr. McKenzie lived at Petone, and Willi his companion, Mr. Earle, had had rooms reserved in Wanganui for their visit. Mr. McKenzie was an extremely popular commercial traveller.

Air. De Malmanche .was making a Business journey to Wanganui and his escape from death was marvellous.
