ANZAC DAY.

COMMEMORATION CEREMONIES ARRANGEMENTS BY COMMITTEE. The Anzac Day Commemoration Committee met this morning, under the chairmanship of the Mayor, Mr. J. H. Gunson, to consider the organisation of the various ceremonies on April 25 to pay fitting- tribute to the memory of New Zealand's sons who gave their lives in the Great War for their count, y, Empire, and the cause of freedom. It was decided that, with one or ttvo minor improvements for smoother progress, the procedure for the day ehculd . follow that of last year. The serv.ee ;at the' Town Hall will start at 11 a.m., ! and it was resolved to request the Re--1 turned Soldiers' Association to take in ! hand, as before, the organisation of the . procession of returned soldiers from i Queon's wharf- to the hall so that its I members be in their seats not later than I 10.55 a.m. It was also decided that the j doors be opened to the public at 10.45, ' and that the non-reservation of seats b<; ' strictly observed.

The cenotaph will be re-erected bef re tiie Town Hall, and the ceremeny here will start fifteen minutes after Ue <onelusion of the Town Hall service. The R.S.A. is to be requested to provide a guard of honour from the hall to the tenotaph, so tiiat those assisting at the cenotaph ceremony may be enabled to take their places without undue confusion. The Prime Minister is to be invited to have a'wreath placed at the'fdot of the cenotaph on behalf of the Government, if . possible by himself, failing which by one of his . colleagues, while wreaths will als-o be placed by the: Mayor (on behalf of the citizens),-the Returned SoJdiers' Association, South African War veterans,. Soldiers' Mothers' League, Auckland Harbour Beard. Navy League, and Victoria League ia that order. An alteration in the location of the guns-for the firing of the salute from the old Market site to the Albert Park was sugr gested, and it was. decided to ask the O.C. district, Colonel Potter, to ar.ango. the salute to be. fired from the Park.

The programme at the Town Hall w'.ll be similar to that observed last year, including three verses of the '"National Anthem" to open, two addressee, f:ur hymns at intervals, a. prayer, the playing of the "Dead March" (in "Saul") by the city organist, the sounding of the '"Last Post" by bugles, the pronouncing of the Benediction, and an organ recessional. The committee resolved to invite the Anglican Bishop of Auckland, the Right Rev. Dr. Averill. and the Rev D. C. Herron, M.., to deliver the addresses of the day, and the chaplain of H.M.s. rhilomel to offer the prayer. In the afternoon a short service will be held at the Soldiers' Memorial at Waikumete Cemetery, consisting of the singing of the "National Anthem," a brief address by the Mayor, and a closin~ hymn.
