* — NOKTU'EKX CLUB'S DEIUSY". The classic event of the pigeon racing season was flown from Ohakune on Saturday, under the auspices of the Northern Kucjng Pigeon Club. Birds nominated at the commencement of the racing season, four "birds per member, were only eligible. The birds were liberated at 8 a.m. in rough weather, and the winning bird. Mr. V. Ryder's bine hen Whirlwind, arrived, at. its' loft at 11.85 a.m., covering the distance of ISO miles 1506 yards with a Telocity of 1880 yards per minute, in 3h BSm 40s. Forlorn Hope, arrived at Its loft at Glenmore a few seconds after 12.30 p.m.. having flown the 240 miles in the good time of 6h 30s. The face was very ieenly contested, tlie birds having been turned out in great condition hy their respective owners.. Mr. T. Howse well merits bis success. He wins the club prize, Mr. C.
