PALMERSTON NORTH HIDE AND TALLOW SALE.

Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report: At our sale, held on the 26th inst.. we offered a very large catalogue to a full attendance of buyers. One line of hides and a few lines of calfskins were taken by the tanners at Government schedule rates. The balance, which comprised some very nice lines of hides, were submitted by auction, and these met with very keen competition, making from 2d to 3d per lb over Government schedule rates, one ox hide ma , kln 8 as h te fl as *«. Tallow also sold well. We quote: Ox heavy lod to 15* d, ox medium 14Jd to 15|d, ox light 13d to'l-tid. cow heavy 13Jd to 14id, cow medoum 13} d to 14& d, cow light 12d to 14Jd, cut. slippy and inferior lojd to 13Jd; horse hides 13/6 to 22/6; calf, best lines, ISJd; calf, medium to 17$ d: calf, stained, 15Jd to 16} d; cut, slippy, and inferior 9d to lojd (these calf were taken by the tanners at Government schedule rates), tallow £40 10/ per to ?{..i a y. na ; b °rsehair, 1/ to 1/6J per lb; rabbit skins 1/ to 1/1.
