MOUNT EDEN MAYORALTY.
MR. NICHOLSON A CANDIDATE. Recently Mt. 0. Nicholson intimated that he would not again be a candidate far the Mount Eden Mayoralty. Mt. Nicholson has been associated with the administration of the affairs of tlw> district for nearly twonty years, and Qias occupied the position of Mayor ever since Mount Eden became a borough. When it was announced that Mr. Nicholson would not again seek election, a representative deputation, headed by Mewre. .1. IL Gunson and .1. J. Craig, waited on Mr. Nicholson, ami presented him with a requisition, asking hini to reconsider his decifilon. This morning Mr. Nirihofeon announced that, after having fully considered the ■matter, and having weighed ttm vicwis put forward by thi- deputation which waited on h'.m last week, .he felt it to be. his duty to acquiesce to their request. He will accordingly l>c a t-judidate at the forthcoming election.
