GREY LYNN TRAM SERVICE.
Wo the Editor.) Sir, —It must be quite palpable to tbe tramway authorities that the district between Ponsonby reservoir and Richmond is the home of thousands of male and female workers, who have to depend solely upon the trams for conveyance to and from the city. In almost every car that leaves Richmond between half-past six and half-past eight in the mornings there is more than the licensed number of strap-bangers aboard before the reservoir is reached, and the motormen are compelled to pass people at almost every stopping-place. In the evening, when the workers are eager to get home, it is quite a common thing to see people who live in Richmond toiling along the road. In most cases it is women and girls who suffer. On Sunday the car services at morning and night are quite inadequate. If the Grey Lynn Council has any jurisdiction in the matter, sure|ly this unsatisfactory state of affairs ' can be remedied at once, and the district made a little more inviting to prospective home-seekers.—l am, etc., C.Me.'
