PROPOSED NEW FREEZING COMPANY.
At a public meeting under the auspices of the Tuakau Branch of the Farmers' Union, held on Saturday evening, il was decided that. Ihe proposed Auckland Farmers' Freezing Company was a step in the right, direction, and worthy of the support of the farming community generally.
At the monthly meeting oi: flu? Ng.iruawahia Branch of the Waikato Farmers' Club, a resolution was passed highly approving of the proposed company, as sec forth by Messrs Stone aud Cox.
The proposed company was discussed at a meeting of the Waikato Farmers' Club at Cambridge on Monday. Mr I'.arugh said the first tiling they wanted to create freezing works for was to maintain a good steady market. The cost of erecting suitable works was variously estimated to cost between £20.000 and £35,000. He urged every farmer to take up shares in the new company, which was being well supported all round. Mr Reynolds pointed out that anything which mighl be done to reduce freezing charges put money directly into the pockets of the producers. Mr Jno. Fisher said it would be a standing disgrace if the matter of the freezing works were allowed to fall through. The Auckland market was the most unsatisfactory in the world—up to-day and down to-morrow. Farmers ought not to look upon the company as an investment for capital so much as the general good that would be com erred.
