JOHN DUTHIE
is a Scotchman, educated in Aberdeanshire. Hβ was there apprenticed to the ironmongery trade, and afterwards was in the brade at Wolverhampton, and m Ireland, 2 the representative of a Sheffield firm Hβ emigrated to Auckland and started in busiPlymouth in 1866. Hβ was atterwards in WanganuL In 1880 he started business in Wellington quickly beconing the leading hardware house in the city. Hβ was Mayor of Wellington last year. Hβ was Chairman of the Gear Company for fhe two first years, and did much to establish that business successfully. Ho took X active part in local government fn Wanganui, being four times elected I member of the Harbour Board by S,e rJSpayere. In Wellington he was prefinted with a valuable library on retiring torn the Wellington mayoralty. In pohtSbe generally .rapports the Government party, but demands a reconstruction of the iunirtrV.
