SUPPOSED INCENDIARISM AT ONEHUNGA.
A eepoet was forwarded into town this morning from Constable Negus, of Onehunga, to Mr. Commissioner Naughton, stating that a fire broke out in an unoccupied house on the beach, about half-past seven o'clock the previous (Thursday) evening. Before sufficient aid could be procured the house was completely destroyed. It was the property of Mr3. Pilkington, of Auckland, and it is thought that the fire was the work of an
incendiary ; an attempt to fire it by some malicious persons having been made no less than three times since the 17th of March. "We believe the house was insured, but cannot say in what office. An enquiry will no doubt take place, which may probably tend to throw some light on the matter.
