He stated he was surrounded by neighbours, and, up to the present time, had been obliged to pass through private property. Lately, however, the gates bad been locked against him and, consequent!}', he was now unable to get his children to school. After some discussion the Board agreed to form a road, Mr Wilson promisinsr to pay half the cost, provided such cost did not exceed £20. Mr Williams said if the amount was in hand, specially appropriated for the purpose, it should be used for it, but he thought that the record of this sum having been granted for the purpose alleged should be hunted up, before the Board took any action. Ho did not wish to raise difficulties in the way of making these roads, but, as the money was so scarce, they should be very careful so that roads, which were really required, might be provided. Mr Shadbolt said the land where the road was belonged to him, but he was willing to convey the new road to the Board in exchange for the old one without furthe compensation. The clerk was instructed to get particuculars of the Special Grant from Mr. Fenton, and to write to Mr Pettigrew informing him that the matter would be attended to.
