A large audience assembled at the Opera. House last evening, when that excellent "Mother Goose" pantomime company made their first appearance. "Mother Goose" is the title of the pantomime, but it, is an entirely different book from the one that was presented come few years ago. and it is needless to say that, it was received last night with every token of appreciation by the large audience. "Mother Goose," as presented, was founded upon a haphazard blending of the necessary storief "Mother Goose" and "Little Red Riding Hood," and there was quite a big innovation of vaudeville items and specialties. Miss Elsie Jennings, as the principal "boy," was charming. Her songs included the patriotic number "Your King and Country Need You," with which she simply brought down the house. As "Red Riding Hood," Miss Rosie Coleraan was vivacious, and her sons "Hello Tommy Atkins," was a great fiucce- Js. Mr James Gerald as "Mother Goose." was good, his dry humour rcsuUing in much laughter. A diverting impersonation also was that of King Cole, by Mr William Rayner, who possesses an excellent voice, while be is also a very clever comedian.
