OBITUARY.
MR. HENRY OAKES RAMSDEN
, The death occurred at Homebush, Masterton, at an early hour on Wednesday morning of an old and re- > spected- resident of the Wairarapa, in the person of Mr Henry Oakes Ramsden. Tho deceased, who was fiftyfive years of age, had been ailisg for a consider period, but his death came somewhat unexpectedly, and caused quite a shock to his relatives. The late Mr Ramsden was born in Essex, England, and was educated at the Bluecoat School, Christ's College, and also at Trinity, Cambridge. Ho came to New Zealand about thirty years ago. He resided for some time in the Wanganui district, arid afterwards went to Martinborough, whero he established a business. Later he engaged in fanning pursuits in the Lower Valley, from which he retired some little time back and took up his residence in Featherston. He came to only a few days prior to his death. The deceased was a man of sterling business integrity, and was highly respected throughout the district. He was an elder brother of the late Mr Cecil C. Ramsden, of Masterton. ' He leaves a widow, two sons, and a daughter, to whom, the greatest sympathy will be expressed in their bereavement. The sons are Messrs Eric Ramsden (of the literary staff of the Age), and Neville Ramsden, and the daughter Mrs Broughton, of this town. The funeral takes place at Martinborough to-morrow.
