A SUGGESTION.
A suggestion has been made that, if accommodation should be required tfor the women and children Avho have been rendered temporarily homeless 'by the earthquake at Cheviot, the South Belt School, which is at present unoccupied, should be placed at their disposal. The school is ailready partially furnished, and should it be deemed desirable it is suggested that the Government might provide the additional furnishings necessary. Mrs Lissaman, who resides close by the school, has intimated that, should such an arrangeme-rtb be given effect to, she would be glad to take the supervision of it and assist in any way possible in making it a success. There is no certainty yet as to whetfKA sfo comprehensive a scheme will bs necessary, but should relief on bo large a scale be called for" it is gratifying to know that it is within practical reach.
