OBITUARY

MR. J. J. MACKY.

The death occurred yesterday afternoon of Mr. Joseph James Mai ky. at his resi-, : deuce, Kel mania Avenue. Heme Bay. John Macky, who was for many vears i minister of the Presbyterian church at ' Otahuhu, and the first* moderator of the : Presbyterian General Assembly of New j Zealand. His eldest brother, Mr. S. Cochrane Macky, died some time ago, and his other brother, Mr. John Macky, is accountant for the Auckland Education Board. Ho had been for many years intimately associated with mining activities, and was for a lengthy period legal manager fur the Victoria and other mining companies. Luring recent years Mr. "Micky had conducted a land and estate agency j business, and was widely known and highly I respected in. commercial circles. Mr. \ Macky had never been directly concerned in the conduct of public affairs" but he had devoted much attention to philanthropic efforts. He was one of the founders of the Door of Hope, and his name is also associated with the Helping Hand Mission and other charitable institutions. Mr. Micky was narried some 35 years ago to Miss Kate Spencer, daughter of the late Mr. Thomas Spencer, of Thames. Their family comprises three sons and three daughters—Mr. Spencer M. Mackv. an artist, residing in San Francisco. Mr! John Victor Macky. accountant, ' M Joseph Cam Mackv. who was associated with his father in business, Mrs Fallow i Napier, Miss Mackv. and Mrs. Harold : Hercus, Hamilton.
