[By Telboba-ph.] Dunedin, Thursday evening. A man named Haines,storekeeper at Auckland, accidentally shot himself while out pighunting. He is supposed to havebeen clubbing a pig with his gun, when the gun, which was loaded at the time, went off. There Reems a desire to ship wheat for London at 35b per ton.but ships are extremely scarce. The burnt-out Norwegian settlers , are urgently wanting relief, the locality of the settlement being high, and winter usually early and severe. Three boys were charged at the Ponce Court to-day with assaulting another schoolboy. The case was dismissed, but the Bench • expressed regret that schoolmasters could not ' give a good caning now without fear of Court proceedings : the cane would soon settle such cases as this. A prohibition order was to-day granted against Archibald McAlister, a remittance man who has been wasting his substance. The application was made by the agents who receive his money froth home. Oats keep at about ls Bd, but wheat is below 3s.
