Inthe House of Lords Lord Harris suggested thafa committee consisting of representatives of the Treasury and Colonial and War Offices should be appointed to consider the question of the emigration of pensioners to New Zealand. Lisbon, March 21.. A most disastrous fire occurred at the theatre at Oporto during a performance last night. The building, which was crowded, was totally destroyed, and many persons were killed and injured. Stdnet, March 22. Mr Haynes, in the course of a speech last night in the Assembly, denounced Protectionists and Catholics. This raised the ire ' of Mr James Fletcher, member for NewVastte. and he walked over to Hajnes, seized him by the throat, threw him onto a 'teat, and held him there. Several members bnly with thegrea.es. difficulty, succeeded in dragging Fletcher off amid much excitement Fletcher was then arrested by the Sergeant-at-Arms, and after apologising freely was suspended fc the remainder of the Bitting.
