MR. WALTER SYMES

HAMILTON, Oct. 15. The death occurred at the Waikato Hospital last night of Mr. Walter Symes, aged 63, an ex-member for Egmont. He had f been an inmate for six weeks with an internal trouble, and when preparing to leave ten days ago had a relapse.

(Mr. Walter Symes was born in Taranaki, his parents following farming pursuits at Mangorei at the outbreak of the war. The family (a large one of boys—there being only one girl) lived in New Plymouth for some time, afterwards going to Wanganui, and from there to Waver ley. The late Mr. Symes received his education at New Plymouth, principally with Mr. Schofield. in a school on the present site of Wesley Hall. Mr. Symes sat in four Parliaments—the 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th —having been elected for Egmont in December 1896, and again in December 1899; and for Patea—firstly in December 1903, and for a second time in December 1905. Mr. Symes leaves a widow and grown-up family.)
