LEAVE

’•* Leave is in the offing, judging by most remarks, the boys will not be ••sorry to hit port. At the same time we must remember that the Gods have jsmiled upon us. Think what our shipboard conditions would have been like we had hit a howling gale on our first day out.

Unfortunately ,we have but a short time to stay. ???? will see us come and go and will form its opinion of us by our behaviour. Padre McKenzie gave us a good tip on Sunday. You don’t meet the best people in the streets and pubs. John Dory recommends a spot of sightseeing - transport is provided free by the transport authorities - a little town exploring, and,if you are lucky,a pleasant time with the locals. The success of our leave will largely depend on luck and the weather. If both are right, remember the old school tie,and don’t tie any knots ‘in it. ,
