IN MEMORIAM
MRS. ANNIE WATSON, NELSON UNION One of Nelson’s well-known temperance workers passed away on Friday, july Oth, in the person of Mrs. Annie Watson, ot W ashington Valley, in her 82nd year.
Mrs. Watson joined the VV.CT.U. in it> early days, and was among the first to receive the thirty years badge for active service. She will leave a big blank in the Nelson Union, as she rarely missed a meeting. She was a familiar figure at Dominion Conventions. She and her husband, Mr. Robert Watson were members of the Good Templars and of the Rechabites. In 1933 they visited England, where they attended sessions of these Orders, and of the British Women’s Temperance Union, being welcomed as New Zealand's representatives. Mrs. ‘Watson was a member of the Nelson Hospital and Charitable Aid Board for 32 > ears, a record lor women’s services on Hospital Boards in New Zealand. She had been a J.l*. since 1928. Her husband pre-deceased her several years ago. ‘Two of her sons, Kenneth and Roy, were killed in the first world war, 1914-1918, and three sons and a daughter are left to mourn their loss.
