A. & P. SHOWS.
The following correspondence is published as a hint to our Unions who do wmrk at the different A. k. P. Shows throughout the Dominion. They may chance to have committees who are more sympathetic to temperance work than the Wairarapa one. We understand that the request met with much support in the committee and was turned down by the narrowest majority. Secretary Wairarapa A. & P. Show. — Sir, — On behalf of the W.C.T.U. I wish to make application for a 10ft stand in the centre of the Hall at the A. & P. Show. We wish to exhibit varied goods and placard them showing how soon they could be purchased if a person denied him or herself their daily allowance of Alcoholic liquor. An exhibition of this kind was shown in Wellington during Carnival week, and was of an Educational Character * and received favourable comments from the daily papers. K. M. EVERY, Pres. Carterton W'.C.T.U.
Mrs K. A. Every, W.C.T.U., Carterton. Dear Madam, — Your application for a stand in the Hall on Show' days was referred to my Committee to-day, and in reply, 1 was instructed to advise you that, after full and favourable consideration, my Committee are very sorry that they cannot allot a space for your stand. Yours faithfully, H. SMART. Secretary, Wairarapa A. & P. Show.
