I hiring the past month, one of our New Zealand Superintendents, Mrs \. Jones, of Ngaere. has suffered the severe loss of her mother, Mrs lb M. Cresswell,

of I'apauui, who passed quietly away on Sunday, April 7th Mrs Cresswell arrived from England with her parents, Mr and Mrs Jos. Pattrick, by one of the lirst four ships in the year 1860. She was well known throughout (’anterbury, and was greatly beloved. While not an actual working member of the Women s Christian Temperance Union, she was a subscriber to the White lb hi ion paper, and took an intense interest in the work, and would have joined the Union if her health had permitted.

For the last year or two she has been quite an invalid, and at times suffered much pain. Her influence was always on the side of right, and by precept and example she worked quietly for the Nolicense cause, and while unable to do all she wished, wo can say, “she hath dime what she could.”
