The Crown Of Thorns
They pressed a crown upon His brow, And mocked at Him, the King, And let their laughter to the heaven In derision ring. A crown of thorns from a lowly bush, How fitting for His head! "See- how you like your crown, O -^ing!" .The jeering mockers said. But Christ looked down and smiled at them, And though ,his eyes were sad, The sharp thorns did not thrust so deep, They' made His heart glad. No King's crown could have been so rich In glorious beauty yet unfurled, For on the lowly bush of thorns Crimson roses curled. , — Nellie E. Donovan.
