Good Friday.
We cannot share the grief, the bitter - fears, Nor sta'nd with Thy disciples on the . hill; We humbly followed others through the years, And so declare Thy people love Thee still. We know a cross of gold did not hold Thee, O Sacrifice, because of human sin; Thy cross, rough timber from the living tree, .."./■ Had blood-marks where the nails were driven in. We know the beams which perished long ago - Survive in ways that hallowed custom •gives. .'...,„• So this.j?rocession moves, sublime, and slow, To praise Thy love for us which ever lives.
