Archdeacon H. W. Monaghah, vicar of St. Mary's Timaru,; has accepted the Parish of All Saints', Palmerston. North.; ' ; ; : The Rt. Rev. Philip Henry Loyd',:' former Bishop of Nasik .has been, nominated to the See of St. Albans, England, to succeed Dr. Furse wh& recently retired. ' The Rev. P. H. \Blakiston, vicar at Te Karaka has entered ,camp to serye as a chaplain. During his absence the work of the parish will be carried on by the Rev. W. W. Bird. . The Rev. C. E. Hyde, vicar at Wairoa, has accepted the parish at Waipukurau. Mr Hyde recently returned to Wairoa after serving for some years as chaplain with the New Zealand forces m the Middle East. The Rt Rev. W. H. Baddeley, D.5.0., M.C., Bishop of Melanesia, during his recent trip to United States had conferred upon him the degree of Doctor of Sacred Theolbgy by the Columbia University. The Rev. John Steele Martin has been appointed assistant curate to the parish of Rotorua. Mr Martin was previously serving under Archdeacon Lush, of Invercargill. He will commence his ministry at Rotorua early next month. . Archdeacon J. B. Brocklehurst, of Napier, was married on January 17,. to Miss Melva Shortt of Mangere/ Auckland. Miss Shortt was m China for four years as a missionary until driven out by the war. For the last two years she -has been on the staff of Hukarere College, Napier. The death occurred at his residence Parnell, Auckland, of Canon Edgar James McFarland. Canon McFarland who was born m Londonderry, Northern Ireland, 87 years ago, came to New Zealand as a. boy. He was ordained m 1882 by Bishop Cowie.
Canon C. Mortimer-Jones, vicar of St. Mary's, Waipukurau, has accepted the parish of Birkenhead, Auckland. He has been at Waipukurau for six years and from 1926 to 1938 he was vicar at St. Matthews, Hastings. At Birkenhead he will succeed the Rev. Melville Harcourt who has been appointed to St. Anne's Church, New York, one of America's leading Episcopal churches.
