For usj it is, I hope and .pray, remedial to cleanse and purify arid build up on real and everlasting foundations. . One is inclined to dispair at the lack of religion, or the signs of it, m the average -man. But there is evidently- mere than one thinks. When the news of the invasion reached us on June 6 a special edition of the Cape Times—-our^lead-ing newspaper— was immediately issued. Boys selling it m thestreets were rushed by the crowd. In it was advertised a special service of prayer m the Cathedral at Cape Town. This large building was crammed; people who couldn't get seats, were standing: where they could. It is said to be the largest' congregation seen m the Cathedral, Some large business firms closed down for a time so that their employees might go to the service;— The Right Rev. Dr.. W. H. Sedgwick former Bishop of Waiapu, now of Cape Town, writing to a friend m Hawke's Bay.
