St. Mark's, Clive.

. . r: ■■ . :. • ... On Christmas evening, part of the cantata " The Nativity " was sung byi the Choir. All credit is due :to Mr Thornton arid the Choir for tjie regularity- with which they attended practices,' and the way m which they got up the cantata so that it might be a real service of praise. The collection at this service, which amounted to £3, was for Miss Sfc.Hill's work among the poor m the Elast End of Londgn. There was a good attendance at this service, and a fair number of communicants at the Celebrations at eight and eleven. In spite of the scarcity of flowers, the Church was very prettily decorated by a number of the ladies' committee, some of whom have been voluntarily giving their services to clean, out the Church throughout the year. We are glad to welcome several new members ta the Choir, and. are sorry to lose Miss Magill who is leaving Clive. , \ During the month a collection for the Meianesian Mission was taken' m hand by several of the ladies of the congregation. The sum of £4 15s. was collected. Owing/ to the war the usual contributions haiVe not been comingi m, and the Bishop made a . special appeal m the " Gazette," pointing out the urgent needs of the Mission at the present time. We are gliad to see this amount raised m addition to the ordinary collections 1 at a tince when so many calls are being made upon us for the needs of others. During January there will be a holiday for the Choir and the Sunday School. The annual Sunday School picnic will be held on the last Wednesday m January, and will be at Clifton as it was last year. The prize-winners at the Sunday School have voluntarily given up their prizes this year; and the money (£l2 m all) 1 has been given to the Belgian Fund. The following are those who gave up thedr prizes, and who made what was a very real sacrifice on their part : — First Prizes, William Hellyer, Stanley Neajle,

Maria Cushing, Annie Wells, Jenny G-uaves, Vesta Cushing, ( Archie .N eagle, Phyllis Cushing, Effie Cashing. , Second prizes, Alick Cushing, Robert Cushing, Bna lacker, Eoia Cushing, George Hellyer. Third prizes, Mona Caldwell, Margaret Richardson, Alice Richardson, HJazel 1 ucKer.
