Women's Christian Temperance Union Action.
The Wanganui branch of the Women's Christian Temperance Union has passed practically unanimously a resolution strongly dissenting from the action of the Convention
at Nelson, a nd declining to endorse the position taken up by it, and expressing the full approval by the Wanganui Union of the platform of the Bible m State Schools League". The " Methodist Times," commenting on the Convention's action, says :— " In regard to the resolution the Convention passed against the Bible m State Schools League, it is to be deeply regretted that they took the action they did more so because it is generally believed that an injustice has teen done to a large section of the members of the Union. There is good reason to believe that a great number of the members are opposed to that resolution and m favour of the platform of the Bible m State Schools League ; m fact, it is very probable that a majority of the members are wholly with the League m its desire to give the Bible a recognised place m the schools of our land. It is to te hoped that the women belonging to the Union will carefully study the subject, and that they will realise that whatever objections and difficulties may be urged against the proposed scheme, it is surely greatly preferable to the present system."
