A kete made by Geneva Gray (Nga Puhi and Ngati Tuwharetoa) of Tokoroa in 1981. The pattern is very old and found in many parts of the Pacific. In New Zealand it is known as papaka in the Wanganui district, Papakirango in eastern parts and as torakaraka in the central North Island. Does anyone know of other names for the pattern? (Collection Auckland Museum).
