Members of the Waiuta Cricket Club, and their families, provided helpers for the Pioneer Dinner, and are seen here posed behind the tables before the diners arrived. The bottles on the tables include beer, lemonade and whisky. Despite what the menu says, there was no wine in Waiuta in 1931. The quality of Divis's photography is so high that it is possible to enlarge the labels and confirm that it is whisky. The beer was Monteith's, then brewed nearby in Reefton. (ATL ref. 1/2-233370-G)
