Kathleen Coleridge, who compiled the recently published catalogue of the Library’s Milton collection (see p. 43), is Special Materials Librarian at Victoria University of Wellington. Dr J. K. Hale is a senior lecturer in English at the University of Otago, Dunedin. Wallace Kirsop teaches French at Monash University and spends his spare time on bibliography and book trade history. In February 1981 he gave the Sandars Lectures at the University of Cambridge on ‘Books for colonial readers—the nineteenth century Australian experience’. Garry Tee is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Auckland. He has long had an interest in the pioneer woman mathematician Kovalevskaya (1850-1891), and in his paper ‘Sof’ya Vasil’yevna Kovalevskaya’ (Mathematical Chronicle 5 (1977), 113-139) he published for the first time (in facsimile) a letter from Kovalevskaya to her friend George Eliot.
