Treading the Same Road King Koroki said he had been particularly gratified that so many Pakeha people had joined their Maori friends at Turangawaewae Pa, Ngaruawahia, at the weekend. It gave point to his remarks made this time last year before the centenary of the Battle of Rangiriri that Pakeha and Maori must tread the same road together into the second century of peace between the two races. ‘But the Maori people need a staff to help them along the way and the best staff of all is knowledge. Therefore I commend to you all, especially the young people, the value of education,’ he said.
