Mrs Rangirorea Tatere The death occurred at her residence, Makirikiri, Dannevirke, of Mrs Rangirorea Tatere, wife of the prominent Maori leader, Mr Hohepa Mei (Doc) Tatere. She was in her 62nd year. She was born at Rotorua, daughter of Kahui and Hanatia Foley. She attended Queen Victoria College in Auckland. Mrs Tatere was a member of the Arawa tribe and was of the sub-tribes Ngati Pikiao and Ngati Whakaue Ohinemutu. During World War II, Mrs Tatere was a member of the Patriotic Society and, with her husband, was presented as a representative of the Maori race to Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh on their visit to Dannevirke.
