TE ARA NGAMOKI One of the leading chiefs of the Whanau Apanui tribe, Te Ara Ngamoki, has died at Omaio. For many years Te Ara took a foremost part in the affairs of the tribe. He was prominently associated with Sir Apirana Ngata in initiating Maori Land Development Schemes in his district. He was closely related to the late Lieutenant Ngariumu, V.C., whose mother is of the Whanau Apanui tribe. Following the chief's death, a largely attended tangi was held at Omaio.
