At all bases the Maoris found that American servicemen were keen to hear about New Zealand and Maori legends. The members of the quartet—Joe Ward Holmes, of Lower Hutt, Pat Rawiri, of Ruatahuna, Mac Hata, of Opotiki, and Henry Gilbert, of Waikaremoana—have sung on many B.B.C. programmes and given cabaret and stage shows in England. They were also in the film ‘The Seekers’.
